Year of Establishment :
The college was founded in 1994 by Shri Vile Parle Kelavani Mandal( SVKM ), to establish a benchmark setting degree engineering college. The Mandal has developed a large educational complex in Vile Parle. Today all SVKM institutes are state of the art, with ever expanding facilities and infrastructure.
History :
The college was born out of the efforts of its parent body Shri Vile Parle Kelavani Mandal which, with prior approval from the University of Mumbai, the Government of Maharashtra, the Directorate of Technical Education and the All India Council for Technical Education, decided to establish a degree engineering college.
From its humble beginnings in 1934, when it took over the Rashtriya Shala, a school established in 1921, Shri Vile Parle Kelavani Mandal today has grown into a big educational complex imparting high-level education to more than 30,000 students.

Admissions :
Dwarkadas J Sanghvi College of Engineering (DJSCoE) has 50% reserved seats for the Gujarati minority community. The admission for other seats are through Common Admission Process ( CAP Rounds ) based on MH – CET Score.
1) Undergraduate Admissions – ( Bachelor of Engineering - B.E. ) :
D J Sanghvi College admits students for undergraduate programs based on their scores in the MH-CET (Maharashtra State Common Entrance Test).
2) Postgraduate Admissions – ( Master of Engineering - M.E. ) :
Admissions for postgraduate programs are through GATE Score (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) or sponsorship. D J Sanghvi offers M.E. courses in Electronics & Tele - communication Engineering, Manufacturing System Engineering both started in year 2011. The College also offers M.E. courses in Computer Engineering started in year 2012 with Intake capacity of 18 students for all the three branches.

1) ISME
Production Engineering Department has set up a student’s chapter of Indian Society of Manufacturing Engineers (ISME) in the year 2001. All students of Production Engineering are student members of this chapter.
2) CSI
The Computer Society of India (CSI) is one of the largest and most professionally managed associations of and for IT professionals in India. The purposes of the society are scientific and educational directed towards the advancement of the theory and practice of computer science & IT.
DJSCOE - CSI is a technical students' chapter as a part of Computer Society of India formed in 2001. DJ-CSI works towards, making the profession an area of choice amongst all sections of the society.
College Campus :
The favorable location of the institute in the heart of Mumbai along with state-of-the-art facilities and a distinguished faculty. The college shares the campus with Shree Bhagubai Mafatlal Polytechnic College.

Manubhai P. Knowledge Centre, the library of D. J. Sanghvi College of Engineering, is located on the First floor of the college Building. The total library area is more than 7500sq. ft. It is facilitated with reprography & Wifi network connection. Library timings are (8.30 a.m. to 6.30 pm.) on all working days.
Reading room facility is available till 10 p.m. during the examination period. The library has a fully computerized databases covering Research papers and articles & circulation system.
There are about 29,815 books, 102 - Printed journals & magazines.
