In 1999, Society of St. Francis Industrial Training Institute started, St. Francis Institute of Technology (SFIT). The College is approved by AICTE and affiliated to the University of Mumbai and offers three programmes, leading to BE degree.
 
History :
 
The Society of Franciscan Brothers was founded in 1901, with Mumbai as its International Headquarter. In 1964 the Society established St. Francis Industrial Training Institute, in Borivali, registered under the national ITI scheme. The Society’s Higher Education Centers are situated in urban and semi urban areas.

The entrance of the Institute leads down a winding lane surrounded by landscaped gardens.

Magazine :
 
'IRIS'The magazine epitomizes the spirit of SFITians.
 
'Sanshodhan' - The technical magazine of SFIT is primarily meant for publishing the research papers and technical articles written by the Faculty and students of SFIT.

It is situated on the second floor of the building with an area of 500 sq.m.
 
The SFIT library also has networked computers with On-line Library provides access to several Internet basedresearch databases. These databases can be accessed from off-campus through Internet.
 
Festivals / College Events :
 
1) 'IRIS' is an inter-college cultural festival. It is held annually in the month of February/March usually held in the even semesters. A galaxy of events is held ranging from cultural to literary, gaming, management and marketing.
 
It is organized by the student body of the college with enormous passion and interest. It is a platform through which students sharpen their hidden skills like organization, management, administration and so on.
 
2) 'MOSAIC' : Technical festival of SFIT.
