Shah & Anchor Kutchhi Engineering College was established by Mahavir Education Trustin the year 1985. The management is run by Mahavir Education Trust.
Mahavir Education Trust was established in the year 1983 with the main intention of promoting technical education. With the help of kind donations of two main donors Shrimati Laxmiben Karamshibhai Shah Trust and Shah Lalji Velji Anchorwala, Polytechnic under the name of Shah & Anchor Kutchhi Polytechnic ( SAKP ) was started in the year 1983.
The trust was fortunate to have the inauguration of the Polytechnic done at the hands of Shri Vasantdada Patil, the then, Chief Minister of Maharashtra State. Today Shah & Anchor Kutchhi degree Engineering College & Shah & Anchor Kutchhi Polytechnic( SAKP ) College both co-exist in the same campus.

Shah & Anchor Kutchhi Engineering College has 51% admission seats reserved for the Gujarati, Jain Community. The admission process for other seats is through CAP Rounds based on MH – CET Score.
1) Undergraduate Admissions – ( Bachelor of Engineering - B.E. ) :
Shah & Anchor Engineering College admits students for undergraduate programs based on their scores in the MH-CET (Maharashtra State Common Entrance Test).
2) Postgraduate Admissions – ( Master of Engineering - M. E. ) :
Admissions for postgraduate programs are through GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) or sponsorship. The institute offers M.E. courses in Computer Engineering, Electronics Engineering & I.T. with total intake capacity of 54 students.
3) Direct Second Year Engineering after Diploma - ( Bachelor of Engineering - B.E. ) :
SAKEC offers direct admission to second year degree engineering course after successful completion of three year diploma course. The admission process for seats is through CAP Rounds.
4) AICTE approved - ( Master of Management Studies - M.M.S. ) :
Affiliated to Mumbai University. The college started this course in year 2008 with intake capacity of 120 students.

Student Societies @ Shah and Anchor:
Shah & Anchor Degree Engineering College has Student Chapters of three professional societies -
1) Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE),
2) Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE) and
3) Computer Society of India (CSI).
These student societies are aimed at improving the technical skills of the students.
College Campus :
SAKEC functions from a single seven-storied building. All laboratories, class rooms, drawing hall, canteen, student’s room, sports hall, administrative office, seminar hall, are situated in the same building. The college has furnished classrooms.
The college has no open grounds. However, it does have excellent facilities at gymkhana for playing Table Tennis, Carrom and Chess. The college has an a/c auditorium with seating capability of around 120.
The A/C classrooms are equipped with audio-visual instruments like projectors, whiteboards and public addressing systems.
College Fees :
The college has a library with a reading hall, a huge collection of books related to the curriculum, university prescribed text books and reference study material. The college library subscribes to a number of National and International Journals. Web browsing facilities, wi –fi is also accessible in the library.
The library is open six days a week, and on Sundays when exams are approaching. The college is a member of IEL Online .
Festivals / College Events :
1) Nucleus - technical fest
Nucleus is the annual technical festival of the college. It is planned by the student bodies and the college student council. It covers 50 colleges with more than 3000 students coming from all the parts of the city. Nucleus hosts the following events:
Robotics - The robotics based events are one of the most famous features of the technical fest.
R1 is a national-level robotics event held annually in the college campus.
Nucleus hosts events which include Google Whack, CodeChef competitions, Web Hunt and Virtual Stock Exchange.
2) Verve - the cultural fest
Verve is the annual inter-collegian cultural festival of the college. It hosts following events.
3) Harmonix : a musical competition among student bands from across the city.
4) Nrityanjali : an inter-college dance competition.
5) Intra Events : A variety of miscellaneous intra-college events take place, such as a fashion show and The Apprentice.
6) Olympus - is the annual sports festival.

The placement cell organizes a number of programs such as Aptitude tests, mock interviews and expert lecturer to prepare students for placement interviews. Recruiters include consulting, engineering and software development companies.
