Year of Establishment :
NIT Mizoram, one of the ten new NITS, Lengpui Campus Foundation stone was laid by Kapil Sibal, Minister of Human Resource Development on 13 October 2012. The classes of NIT Mizoram were started from 2010 in Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology ( VNIT ), Nagpur and shifted to Aizawlin 2011.
History :
NIT Mizoram campus was originally planned in Thenzawl by the Chief Minister of Mizoram. It was soon after shifted to a place located near Lengpui Airport in a 317 Acre Campus, which is close to Aizawl, Capital of Mizoram.
The Bachelors program B. Tech in Computer Science & Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering and Electrical & Electronics Engineering were started in the year 2010 - 11.
The classes are presently operating from Dawrkawn, Chaltlang locality of Aizawl.

The NIT Mizoram is far away from Aizawal city.
By Air :
The NIT Mizoram is approximately 35 Km far from Lengpui (Aizawl) Airport. The taxi fare is Rs. 700 to Rs. 800.
By Rail:
Silchar is the nearest railway station to Aizawl. The journey from Silchar to Aizawl may take apprx. 6 Hrs. & the taxi fare is Rs. 300.
