History :
Vivekanand College moved to the new campus from its earlier one (also in Chembur) in year 2010. Vivekanand Polytechnic, a diploma engineering college is located very near to VESIT.
The Hyderabad Sind National Collegiate Board (HSNCB) was founded by Principal K. M. Kundnani. The HSNCB trust manages some famous educational institutions.

Admissions :
Vivekanand Education Society's Institute of Technology, a Degree Engineering College has 51% admission seats reserved for the Sindhi Community. The admission process for other seats is through CAP Rounds based on MH – CET Score.
1) Undergraduate Admissions – Bachelor of Engineering ( B. E. ) :
Vivekanand College of Engineeringadmits students for undergraduate programs based on their scores in the MH-CET (Maharashtra State Common Entrance Test).
2) Postgraduate Admissions - Master of Engineering ( M. E. ) :
Admissions for postgraduate programs are through GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) or sponsorship. The institute offers M.E. courses in Instrumentation & control Engineering, Electronics & Tele-Communication Engineering & I.T. with total intake capacity of 54 students.
3) Master in Computer Application ( M.C.A. ) Admissions :
Master of Computer Application admissions are based on the scores in the MAH-MCA-CET (Maharashtra State MCA Common Entrance Test). The college has intake capacity of 120 students.

College Campus :
The Degree engineering college shares its campus with Pharmacy college and the college for Management and Research. The campus has one big C-shaped building for the engineering college and some other buildings for the other colleges, hostels, etc. VESIT is a five storey building. The institute has high-tech laboratory facilities.
The ground floor comprises the admin office of the college, principal's office, examination department, canteen, etc. The College has an Amphitheatre on the second floor. A well maintained football ground, a basketball court and a volleyball court are located within the campus area.

Vishwakarma is the annual magazine of college which includes articles, poems written by students, academic and co-curricular achievements of the students. The college also publishes a magazine named Mindspace.
Library :

→ The library has a reading hall open for six days a week and on all days when exams are approaching.

Festivals / College Events :
1) Praxis - Technical Festival
Praxis is the annual technical festival organized by VESIT.
Praxis organizes competitions like Robotics, Gamers Arena, Dalal Street, Open Hardware and Open Software competitions and technical paper presentations. It schedules fun events like the treasure hunt and crystal maze.
2) Utsav - Cultural Festival
VESIT organizes a cultural festival every year in Spring, called Utsav. All the classes participate in opposition to each other in a wide range of literary and cultural activities to gain points. The class having scored the highest points by the end is declared winner.
3) Technology Day
Every year, in mid March, a day is deemed to be Technology Day. On this instance, a technical project exhibition is organized and the best student project is chosen and awarded.

The institute's placement records have always been rewarding, with more than 100% placement every year. The college is visited by corporate A-listers for the Campus recruitment. The placement record shows the assurance of the corporates in the academic standard of the college.
