Year of Establishment :
It was on the 19th August 1962 i.e. the inauguration of Sardar Patel College of Engineering. The College has completed its 50 years & is currently celebrating Golden Jubilee year.
History :
SPCE was established at Andheri by Bhartiya Vidya Bhavan'sTrust in 1962. At the time, it was only the fifth Engineering Institute in the Bombay district after VJTI, UDCT, IIT Bombay and M. H. Saboo Siddik College of Engineering.
The college started with three disciplines of engineering - Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Electrical Engineering.
Two separate institutions were recognized by Mumbai University:
1) SPCE (Aided) offering Civil, Mechanical and Electrical engineering courses.
2) SPIT (Unaided) offering Electronics, Information Technology, Computer Science courses.
SPIT the unaided division was officially separated from its parent college SPCE in 2005. The students of the two colleges share the same campus and hostel amenities.

SPCE was ranked 25 by the India Today Best Engineering colleges 2012.

Admissions :
SPCE & SPIT have been known to attract merit list students from all over Mumbai.
1) Undergraduate Admissions – ( Bachelor of Engineering - B.E. ) :
Sardar Patel Engineering College& SPIT admit students for undergraduate programs based on their scores in the MH-CET (Maharashtra State Common Entrance Test).
2) Postgraduate Admissions - ( Master of Engineering - M.E. ) :
Admissions for postgraduate programs are through GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) or sponsorship.
3) Master in Computer Application ( M.C.A. ) Admissions ( only for SPIT) :
Master of Computer Application admissions are based on the scores in the MAH-MCA-CET (Maharashtra State MCA Common Entrance Test).

The institute is located in 47 acres of green campus one of the largest amongst the engineering colleges in Mumbai.
The campus also houses four Bhavan’s Institutions of great repute namely Bhavan’s College (the arts, commerce and science college), Sardar Patel College of Engineering – Government aided Engineering college, Sardar Patel Institute of Technology (SPIT), S.P. Jain Institute of Management and Research.
The buildings are old & the classrooms and the labs are non-AC.
Hostel facilities exist for about 80 students.

Magazine :
The first magazine of the Sardar Patel College of Engineering (SPCE) was titled Sukarma.
Today SPCE and SPIT have an annual college magazine named Disha. It includes information on the activities that have taken place in SPCE and SPIT throughout the year, as well as articles and photographs. A newsletter named Communication Times is also run by the IETE committee.
The college also has student chapters of IEEE and IETE.
Festivals / College Events :
1) 'SPACE' - Sardar Patel Annual Cultural Extravaganza.
2) 'NIRMAAN' - Annual Technical Festival
SPCE and SPIT hosts their annual cultural festival named Space in February. It usually goes on for 3 days, and is heavily participated in by college students from across the city of Mumbai Apart from Space, the college also organize events like Nirmaan in September every year.
Also, there are many student bodies which drive their events on their own.

Sardar Patel College of Engineering (SPCE) has 100% placement record. Students are placed in companies like Delloite, J P Morgan, Microsoft, SAP, Wipro, etc.

Opinion / Review :
Over the last 35 years the college has gained an excellent reputation in the field of Technical Education.
S.P.C.E. is one of the top five colleges that has received Grade ’A’ rating from Govt. of Maharashtra. The college has produced more than 7500+ graduates and over 40+ Post-graduate Engineers.
It is just second after VJTI in terms of preference.
