K. J. Somaiya Institute of Engineering and Information Technology ( KJSIEIT ), was established by the Somaiya Trust in the year 2001, at Ayurvihar campus, Sion.
History :
Late Shri Karamshibhai Jethabhai Somaiya the founder of Somaiya Trust established The K. J. Somaiya Institute of Engineering and Information Technology (KJSIEIT), the second Engineering College in the year 2001, at Ayurvihar campus, Sion.
The Somaiya Vidyavihar campus comprises 34 individual institutes dedicated in the streams of arts, sciences, management, engineering, medicine, humanities, philosophies and social sciences.
Somaiya Vidyavihar also runs a few autonomous post-graduate courses, vocational training courses and high schools within its campus.

The K. J. Somaiya Engineering College campus is located off the Eastern Express Highway near Sion.
It is close to Sion railway station on the Central Railway Line and Chunabhatti railway station on the Harbour Railway Line.
It is a part of the sprawling 85 acre extensive Somaiya Ayurvihar campus. The college shares the campus with Shree K. J. Somaiya Hospital, Medical College and Cancer Research Centre.

Admissions :
K. J. Somaiya Institute of Engineering and Information Technology has 50% reserved seats for the Gujarati minority community. The admission for other seats is through Common Admission Process ( CAP Rounds ) based on MH – CET Score.

The college has various professional student bodies such as IETE, IEEE, CSI and ISTE. These bodies conduct many extra-curricular and co-curricular activities to enhance the knowledge and technical skills of students.
Various associations are formed in different department’s viz - ETSA, CESA, ITSA & ESA. Student’s council conducts various functions and activities.
The student’s council organizes the cultural week which includes group and solo dance, fashion show, competition, singing competition, personality contest etc.

Library :
The library is located on the first floor of the college building, with an open access system, and is privileged to support the institute's march towards its vision and mission.
Housed with a built-up area of approx. 350 Sq Meters, it has the sitting capacity of 100 users and consists of a collection of about 14,500 books covering the core fields of interest in engineering and related subjects.
The library is continuously aiming to develop a widespread quality collection of information resources that are useful for academic and research purposes.
The library is fully programmed and avails OPAC facility.
Festivals / College Events :
1) 'Renaissance' - Annual Technical Festival of K J Somaiya, Sion. It is usually held on mid of September.
2) 'Surge and Score' - Annual cultural and sports festival of K. J. Somaiya Institute of Engineering and Information Technology. Surge is scheduled for 16th to 17th February every year.
