The Don Bosco Institute of Technology, Mumbai was established in the year 2001. The Don Bosco Institute of Technology is managed by the Bombay Salesian Society.
 
History :
 
The Bombay Salesian Society is a registered charitable trust that manages various charitable and educational activities. Its educational institutions are generally named after Don Bosco who is the founder of the Salesians who are Roman Catholic Priests and Brothers.
 
St. Joseph's I.T.I was the first institute set up by the Salesians at Kurla. With its huge experience in managing educational institutes and especially technical ones, the Salesians entered the engineering field in the year 2001.

The college campus has flourishing greenery lawn. Sporting facilities provided by the college are lavish.
 
There is a huge football ground, basketball & volleyball court and tennis court.
 
A preferred spot for dbitan’s is always the canteen. It is ideally located adjacent to the college building, facing the football ground and the tennis court. The DBIT Canteen caters to the a variety of taste buds. The menu features interesting dishes from traditional meals to Chinese at subsidized rates.

DBIT library ( Learning Resource Centre ) opened in 2001. It is an Open Access Systematized library.
 
The library has a fine collection of Project reports, rare Books. There are in excess of 12000 Books, 58 Print Journals. Library services are programmed using KOHA Software, OPAC and Web-OPAC are accessible for users to search the status of library material.
 
Library subscribes to IEEE & ACM Journals. Ekalavya, OnlineTutorials, Workbooks, Book-bank Books, University syllabi, Previous Year question papers/Question Banks, Old Project Reports, Manuals, Handbooks and Newspapers are also available in library.
 
Festivals / College Events :
 
1) 'CreXtal' - The annual cultural festival of dbit. Crextal means Creativity, EXcellence and Talent.
2) 'Colosseum' - Inter-college tech fest.
 
The college is divided into 3 different houses. The winning house gets the DBIT Shield.

Accenture, Infosys, Wipro, Amdocs, CMC Ltd, Mastek, Quinox are the major recruiters.
